Archiving Your Data
NMR data is generally archived in the raw (FID) form so that you have the maximum flexibility in processing it. Data can be transferred from the JEOL 270 MHz to a Sun NMR workstation, located on the internet.
NMR data is stored in files on a hard disk. However, there is a limit to the file-storage capacity of the hard disk. If the amount of remaining free space in insufficient, a large quantity of data cannot be saved. Also, various problems may occur during spectrum acquisition and/or data processing. To avoid these problems, all NMR data files over ninety days old are subject to being backed up to the Sun NMR workstation.
Files that were previously located on the SGI Indy workstation (270 MHz NMR machine) have been backed up to the Sun NMR workstation in this room (#422) and then deleted from the SGI to make more room on the disk since space was running out.
